About the event
Please join us for our next Speaker Series guest, Michelle McGowan, as she covers how to get the most out of your IEP and explains why the new legislation, ER 56332 (SB1016), is important to you - even if you already have an IEP. This hour long presentation will be followed by a 30 minutes of question and answer period.
Speaker Bio: Michelle McGowan is an enthusiastic Special Education Advocate with passion for supporting the unique education needs of foster and adopted, and homeless youth. Partnering with the DOJ, DEA, Health and Human Resources, Foster Care, Grossmont Community College, La Mesa School District, San Diego Youth Services, UCSD to build a community dedicated to improving the educational outcomes of foster and adopted and homeless youth and young adults. It is her goal to change the law in order to ensure that every child that enters the foster care system is assigned an education advocate to support their unique needs and to bring an extra layer of support to struggling families.
